ST. JOHNSVILLE — Dorothy D. Yacowenia, 81, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Friday March 13, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, NY.
She was born December 18, 1933 in Albany, NY. Dorothy was a graduate of Milne High School in Albany, NY.
She was married to William Louis LaCoppola on June 27, 1953 in Albany, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 30 years until his passing on November 13, 1983. On November 18, 1989 she was united in marriage to Alex Yacowenia who preceded her in death.
Dorothy was last employed as a secretary at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, NY.
Mrs. Yacowenia was of the Catholic faith.
Her foremost priority was her family. Her most precious times were being surrounded by her loved ones. In her leisure Dorothy enjoyed cooking and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Zoller and husband Larry of St. Johnsville; two sons, William Louis LaCoppola, Jr., and Wayne LaCoppola and wife Mary Lou all of St. Johnsville; three grandchildren, Heather, Keri and Kyle; a great grandson, Michael; three stepchildren, Nancy, Thomas and Sally, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by 2 brothers, Ronald and Robert Mason and her mother, Anna L. (Moorehouse) Mason.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 18, 2015 at 4:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, 518-568-7040, with Reverend Rafal Dadello, pastor of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church in Little Falls, officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday March 18, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
